About Lauren

Educator. Artist. Advocate.

I once heard a middle school theatre teacher mention that if you are becoming a theatre teacher to be an artistic director, you are in the wrong field. Yes, it is important to have a clear creative vision for your program and seasons, and of course, no theatre teacher should purposefully be creating “bad” theatre. But, at the end of the day, it is not about you. It is about the students and the environment you provide them to create, play, and grow. Ultimately, I believe that creating theatre that allows students to learn is more rewarding and meaningful than creating theatre solely for the purpose of being “good.” By prioritizing the educational value of the experience, students are able to develop their skills, creativity, and confidence, while also building a sense of community and shared purpose.

I loved participating in my K-12 theatre and choir programs. They gave me a safe space to grow up and explore the world. It is a privilege to create similar programs for my students.

Are you in search for a youth theatre director, teacher, playwright, or coach to assist and build your programming? I would love to meet your students and guide them in creating art. Let’s get in contact and make it happen!

Please keep in mind I generally book projects 6-8 months in advance.
